Plot Twists
Tap on a section in the song viewer & BOOM — section selected. These settings are basically your control panel for how that looks & acts. Buckle up.
Color Palette Shenanigans
Wanna make your section selector less boring? Tap the row & use the Color Builder to cook up something custom or just pick from our totally rad preset palette of see-through colors: Transparent, Red (the one we picked for you cuz we know best), Orange, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink & Grey.
Selection Style (AKA How Obvious Do You Need This?)
Pick a selection style to make your chosen section actually visible. Revolutionary, we know. Here's what we cooked up for ya:
- None is for when you wanna pretend nothing's happening. Radical invisibility.
- Bar draws a skinny little line on the left side of your screen. How thick? Same thickness as your vertical position thingy. Riveting.
- Page highlights the whole bleepin' section across the entire page like someone dropped a ruler on it. Wild.
- Section puts a rectangle around your selection with slightly rounded corners cuz sharp corners are SO 2005.
Select Tapped Sections (The Drama Triangle)
Here's where things get spicy — section selection can totally hog the spotlight & overshadow literally everything else you're tryna do. OnSong auto-detects if a section should get selected. Peep the options:
- Never will straight up refuse to select sections. Ever. Cold shoulder city.
- Automatic checks if sections should get selected based on whether MIDI or scenes are glued to 'em, if lyrics projection is on, or if you're streaming to your homies via OnSong Connect or OnCue. This is the default. We're smart like that.
- Always selects sections. Every. Single. Time. No chill.
Scroll Alignment (The Great Centering Debate)
When sections get selected, they usually zoom into view in the Song Viewer. This setting lets you boss around where they show up on your screen. The viewer will scroll as close to your dream scenario as humanly possible (if there's room).
- Top shoves the section to the top of your viewable area like it owes you money.
- Middle plants it right in the center of your song viewer's viewport. Our default cuz we're balanced AF.
- Bottom drops it to the bottom like it's the opening band nobody asked for.
Scroll to Selected Section
Tap a section = it gets selected & fires off MIDI events, switches scenes & shows lyrics. But here's the kicker — flip this on & it'll also auto-scroll that section into view for you. Default: totally on. You're welcome.
Scroll Under Menubar (The "Don't Hide My Content" Rant)
In OnSong, the menubar & statusbar are just chillin' on top of the song viewer, flexin' their ability to vanish for full screen mode. But here's the problem — when you select sections, stuff scrolls under that menubar & now you can't see it anymore. Cool? Not cool. Pick your vibe:
- Never will lock sections in place so they NEVER slide under the menubar. Ever. Period. End of story.
- Automatic keeps sections outta the menubar if it's visible & fully opaque. But if your menubar is semi-transparent? Game on — content flows right under it. (default cuz we're practical)
- Always lets content scroll under the menubar like the menubar doesn't even exist. Anarchy.
Pro tip: Using an iPhone? Yeah, this whole "Scroll Under Menubar" thing also applies to the toolbar flexin' at the bottom of your screen, FYI.
