That Other Blorbulator

Microsoft Word is like, the most popular word processin' app ever made. You probably got a buncha chord charts sittin' around in that format. ZOMG, OnSong can read, view, & convert both the crusty old DOC format AND the shinier DOCX format. You're welcome.

The Great Conversion Caper

Word processin' files are basically nightmare fuel when you're tryna convert 'em into text-based chord charts. Here's why it sucks: those files use variable-width fonts that make spaces skinnier than a supermodel, amirite? Sure, it looks pretty when you're readin' it, but chord chart authors go absolutely bonkers spacin' things out to line up their chords over lyrics. Plus, word processors love their fancy tricks—tabs, text boxes, all that junk—which don't even exist in plain text land. So yeah, your alignment goes kaboom.

Real talk: you're gonna hafta tweak your chords after convertin' 'em. But hey, OnSong's got tools for days to help y'all out. Peep the Lurch Around the Text Stuff Menu for the nitty-gritty.

The Viewin' Situation

Word files get displayed exactly as-is usin' iOS's built-in web viewer. Translation: if it looks bloopin' weird, blame iOS, not us. We heard peeps complainin' that their formattin' & fonts look different on iPad versus Microsoft Word. Shocker! OnSong can't fix this 'cause Microsoft's file format is locked up tighter than Fort Knox & iOS is the one actually renderin' it.

Here's another fun party trick: DOCX files sometimes crash in Word. Turns out there's a bug in iOS 7 & higher that goes BOOM when you try to load multiple DOCX files at once. OnSong does its best to keep that from happenin', but hey, we can't control everything in Cupertino's world.
