Safe & Sound (Hopefully)

Backin' up is literally the only thing standin' between your OnSong library & total chaos at showtime. This screen is where you manually create backups like some kind of responsible adult, or schedule 'em to happen automagically while the app's runnin'. Once you've got your backup strategy locked down (we're impressed, tbh), tap Close to save your moves, or tap Backup to yeet that backup file into existence right now.

Where the Heck Does This Go?

This section lets you pick where OnSong should stash your backup file. Tap here to choose a service & location for your backup like you're decidin' where to hide your snacks.

iTunes File Sharing is turned on by default. But real talk? Back up to some cloud service or you're basically askin' for trouble. Remote storage = your backup won't disappear when your phone decides to rage quit.

The Actual Backup File

Set a file name here. Riveting, we know. Default is "OnSong" or whatever your library's called. & don't worry — the ".backup" extension gets added automatically cuz we're nice like that.

Add a Timestamp to the Filename Like You're Paranoid

By default, nope. But if you flip the switch, OnSong'll slap a timestamp on there — year, month, day, hour, minute, the whole shebang (like 201809091045). This means every backup gets its own file. Skip the timestamp & it'll just overwrite the old one. Your call, chief.

What Gets Backed Up (Spoiler: Everything)

Your entire library — songs, sets, books, settings, styles, the works. But heads up: some stuff is chunky (yeah, we're glarin' at you, MultiTracks). Use this to cherry-pick what goes in the backup so it doesn't balloon into a terabyte monster.

Automatic Backup (AKA The Safety Net You'll Forget About)

Backups are awesome until you forget to actually make 'em. So OnSong'll handle it — automatic backups when you close the app, no excuses.

Toggle automatic backup on & off, then use the controls to set how often: when you close the app, or hourly, daily, weekly, monthly — whatever floats your boat.

Oh, & you can force automatic backups to only run on WiFi. No WiFi? No backup. Cellular only? Tough luck.

Pro tip: If you've got both automatic backup AND timestamps enabled, we're gonna nag you with an alert. Why? Cuz that setup creates a million files & eats all your storage like a ravenous gremlin. You'll get the option to turn off timestamps. You're welcome.

The Status Vibes

Bottom of the screen shows you when the last backup happened. If a backup's runnin' right now, you'll see the progress bar doin' its thing.

While the backup's workin', the Backup button up top turns into a Stop button. Tap it to yeet the whole operation & close the screen. OnSong'll keep chuggin' in the background like nothin' happened.
