Bossy Button Stuff

Control changes in MIDI are sent from pedals, knobs, & sliders, & they're used to wreak havoc on your music's dynamics. They can also yell at apps like OnSong. Neat, amirite?

Thingamajig Type

Wanna set up a control change in the MIDI editor? Cool story. Pick "Control" from the type section & boom, you're halfway there.

Channel

The channel is basically which MIDI channel's gonna listen to your control change (or scream into the void, depending on your mood). OnSong defaults to listenin' on literally every channel like some kinda MIDI psychic. If you wanna get picky, use the plus & minus buttons to pick one specific channel.

You can tap the channel's name to Edit Channel Name & give it a custom label that actually matches your equipment instead of "MIDI Channel 47" or whatever.

Control

Tap on "None" & pick a control to send or receive. OnSong will flex & show you all 127 control values (0–127, for those countin' at home), with the actually useful ones labeled so you don't have to guess like some kinda MIDI archaeologist.

Pro tip: You can rename controls while pickin' 'em. Just tap Edit & then tap the control name. You're welcome.

Value

Sendin' a control change? Cool beans. You can also pick the value to send (0–127). Slide the slider around like you're playin' with a fader, or tap the number on the left to pick from a list like a normal person.

Latching On/Off

Flip this switch to toggle between your configured value & zero every time you trigger the action. It's like a light switch, except for your MIDI. Riveting stuff.
