Squiggly Finger Maps

Chord diagrams pop up when you tap a chord in the song viewer to open the Chord Nerd Zone, or if you're feelin' wild & turn on chord diagrams in the Vibe Check Menu. You can tweak how these lil' diagrams look using these settings. (Spoiler: you probably won't, but here we are.)

Lefty Flips

For all you southpaws with your backwards guitars—turn this on & the diagrams flip so you can play without your brain exploding. Default is off (because most of y'all are normal, apparently).

Show Me Those Bars

Bars show up as solid lines across strings & represent where your one finger crushes multiple strings at once. OnSong figures this out from the chord fingerings, or just makes a guess if you didn't give it the 411. Turn it off & you just get dots. Default is on (because dots alone are boring).

Fret Position Flex

The fret numbers live on the left side of the diagram so you know where the heck to put your fingers. Default is on (you're welcome).

What's at the Bottom?

The bottom of the chord chart has numbers that tell you... something. Pick your poison:

• Off = nothing. Blank. Nada. You're on your own.
• Finger Position = which finger (1, 2, 3, or 4—index, middle, ring, pinkie) is doing the work. This is the default because we assume you forgot.
• Letter = the actual note name being played. Fancy.

Exact Match Gatekeeping

OnSong shows chord diagrams in the Song Viewer & Chord Nerd Zone that kinda match your chord (we're chill about variations & bass notes). Flip this switch on if you're a total chord purist & need exact matches only. (No judgment. Well, a little.)

Only Show Your Fave Chords

When OnSong displays chord diagrams, it auto-pairs chords to default diagrams based on the chord name. Most musicians know the basics, so turn this on to see diagrams only for the chords you hand-picked in the Chord Nerd Zone. (Because apparently we don't trust your chord knowledge.)
