MIDI
MIDI actions can yeet MIDI to other hardware or software instruments. Buckle up, nerds.
Chord Shenanigans
Text-based chord charts let chords get detected within song sections. Use this category of actions to play the chords of the selected section using MIDI & add that ambient vibe to your set (y'know, the stuff nobody asked for but somehow makes u sound pro).
- Off stops OnSong from bleepin' out MIDI notes like a broken speaker.
- Previous plays the chord u just played, but like… backwards through the section. If u hit the start, it loops to the end cuz we're helpful like that.
- Next plays the next chord in ur selected section (or just picks the first one if u haven't picked anything, because u clearly need help). Once u hit the last chord, boom—back to square one.
- Repeat plays the same chord again & again & again. Useful if ur sound patch has a freakin' attack, or if u wanna drown out that trailing reverb from the last chord.
- Vary switches up the chord variation. OnSong grabs the notes from whatever instrument u picked for the song. Guitar? Plays the guitar chord diagram. The vary action? Moves to the next variation in that instrument. Riveting stuff.
Clock Sync Vibes
Keeps tempo synchronized between MIDI devices so u don't sound like a bloopin' disaster.
- Start starts spammin' MIDI clock events everywhere.
- Stop stops spammin' MIDI clock events.
- Toggle flips the switch on MIDI clock events so ur tempo stays in sync. U're welcome.
Events (The Chaos Zone)
Sends MIDI events, or like, stops sendin' 'em if ur rig is havin' a meltdown.
- Panic nukes all notes on every channel. It's the red button. Don't push it unless u really messed up.
- Send yeets the specific MIDI commands u told it to send.
Sync (The Actual Sync)
Sends MIDI start or stop commands cuz apparently we needed two sync sections.
- Start sends the MIDI start command. Revolutionary.
- Stop sends the MIDI stop command. U got it.
- Toggle sends start or stop depending on whether u're already runnin' or not.
Transpose (Make It Higher/Lower, Duh)
Transposes MIDI notes from chord playback so u can pretend ur a musical genius.
- Up cranks the pitch up by one octave. Suddenly ur voice sounds like a chipmunk. Srsly.
- Down drops the pitch down by one octave. Now ur a bass boi.
Velocity (How Hard Do U Wanna Hit It?)
Changes how aggressively OnSong plays MIDI notes.
- Adjust lets u continuously tweak the velocity so ur MIDI notes sound punchy, soft, or somewhere in between. Find ur sweet spot, bestie.
