Blip Blop Alert

Program changes in MIDI? Yeah, they're basically how you tell your gear to stop soundin' like a sad trombone & start soundin' like, y'know, whatever you actually want. They also work great for yellin' at apps like OnSong.

Flavor Picker

Wanna set up a program change in the MIDI editor? Pick "Program" from the flavor menu & boom. Done.

The Dial

The dial thing figures out which MIDI channel your program change is gonna party on. By default, OnSong's totes cool listenin' & sendin' on literally every channel at once. If you're feelin' picky (& let's be real, your gear probably is), smash the plus & minus buttons to lock it down to one specific channel.

You can tap the channel's name to Make It Say What You Want & give it a custom name so it matches your equipment's whole vibe.

The Sound Swap

Wanna pick which program to send or receive? Tap the "None" option like you're choosin' a cereal. OnSong will drop a whole list of program changes on ya—programs 0 through 127, each with their General MIDI sound label so you know what you're gettin' into.

Pro tip: You can rename programs while you're pickin' 'em. Just tap Edit, then tap the program name & make it say somethin' that doesn't sound like a robot threw up.

The Bank Thing

When you're sendin' program changes, OnSong can also throw a bank select at your gear. It shows up as MSB, LSB, or both of 'em havin' a party together. MSB = "Most Significant Bit" (fancy nerd alert), LSB = "Least Significant Bit" (also fancy nerd alert). Together? They unlock like a million more options for MIDI gear that actually supports 'em. Each bank select bit can be 0 through 127 or just... nothin'.

Here's the thing: the bank select gets sent before the program change, 'cause your gear needs a sec to process the bank stuff before it freaks out about the actual program change. OnSong's got your back like that.
